Velcome to Friisgaarden!
Friisgaarden is situated in the small town of Ramberg on the Lofoten Islands. The house’s main resource has been agriculture and fishing, but today it is functioning as lodging for tourists who wish to stay in a house with a unique history and atmosphere.

Ramberg is perfectly situated if you aim to explore the fabulous nature surrounding Lofoten. Ramberg is also a brilliantly located if you seek different kinds of sights and landmarks.

It is worth mentioning that the west coast of Lofoten is probably the best alternative if you want to catch bigger sized fish, and it is possible to either take part in arranged fishing trips or to rent a smaller rowing- or motorboat.

Friisgaarden has three rooms for outlet. The rooms are all situated on the first floor and our guests claim to sleep very well in this charismatic old house. The price includes fresh bed linen and towels. Click on the pictures in the left margin to see the pictures in a larger format. In the hallways between the bedrooms it is possible to sit and absorb the events of the day, write post-cards, or read a good book. All rooms have access to shower and toilet.

Friisgaarden offers breakfast, dinner and evening meals to its guests. If you are staying in one of the rooms and would like breakfast in the morning, it is preferable if you place an order the evening before. The menu depends upon the selection of raw materials available from local fishermen and farmers. We aim to present a menu with focus on traditional Lofoten cooking, but we also serve exotic dishes, like Bacalao, based on local products and raw materials. You will also find an exciting variety of dishes based on whale meat.

The Friisgaarden pub serves all kinds of beverages. The opening hours are limited to 12 pm out of consideration to our overnight guests.

Most of Lofoten’s visitors come merely because of its unique nature. Local hiking associations have done a tremendous job marking hiking-routes all over Lofoten and we highly recommend these to our visitors. Friisgaarden lies at the bottom of Moltinden, a mountain rising 696 meters above sea level. On your way up you may stop at Nubben, an easier destination about 239 meters above sea level and from which the view over The Norwegian Sea and The West Fjord, is fantastic. The hike up to Nubben takes about 30 minutes at a normal pace.

Lofoten is for many synonymous with fish, and you will be offered many great fishing possibilities, either if you chose to fish from the shore or you prefer to go out in a boat. In Ramberg you may hire small boats and go out on your own, or you may sign up for arranged fishing trips in bigger boats that will take you farther out on the ocean.

In Ramberg you may also hire bicycles and kayaks.

Lofoten is rich on culture, and visitors are offered to enjoy a number of museums, galleries and musical arrangements. Some of the most popular cultural sights lie in the county of Flakstad. Mentionable is the blacksmith in Sund, the glassblower’s workshop in Vikten, Nusfjord - a genuine fisherman’s village, and the arts-and craftsman Johs Røde in Ramberg.

In the summer there are lots of festivals to be enjoyed.
